e-Banking Rating By Intermac: Zenith, UBA, GTBank and Skye Bank are Front-runners

Acceler8now.com, November 22, 2007

If your are looking for a bank that offers a satisfying e-banking experience, you would probably have to zero in on the market-leaders just announced by Intermac Consulting, an e-business consulting and research firm. The company has just released its 2007 e-Banking Customer Survey Report which includes a rating of banks on the strength of their e-banking platforms.

Zenith bank was crowned overall market leader in e-banking orientation and delivery, while UBA earned the rating of the bank with the best e-banking presence countrywide. GTBank commands the most-satisfied e-banking customers, while Skye Bank is the best emerging e-banking provider for the period.

Intermarc defined the objectives of its study as primarily to :

  • determine the banks with the highest e-banking performance.
  • determine the key drivers determining positive performance in e-banking amongst banks playing in the Nigerian market.
  • capture customer perception and feed back with respect to e-banking services of their banks.

It found the four banks out-scoring others in that process and showing more constructive commitment to e-services. The report however found the overall market penetration of e-banking services as still poor, with a current population of less than 6 million for the over 140 million Nigerian population.

The report also harped on the low level of awareness of the e-services provided by banks. Most customers, according to the report, are simply aware of banks' traditional services such as the savings and current accounts. Their knowledge about the e-banking products was, however, quite limited. Significant strides have, however, been made by the ATM platform which, in fact, now commands a high popularity rating of 96% of its respondents.
